What is the Junior Classical League? How can I join?

The Junior Classical League (JCL) is an organization that helps promote and sustain the learning of classics in primary and secondary schools. Membership within the JCL means a commitment to excellences in education for those involved. Benefits for instructors include discounts of Classics related teaching materials through the American Classical League (ACL), our parent organization. Students of JCL instructors have access to all JCL events such as state and regional based conventions, the National JCL convention and other JCL sponsored events.

To learn more about the Junior Classical League, please visit the National JCL website, or contact our state chairperson, Ian Logan.

Updated 2010-2011 Information
Registration forms are now available for the 2009-2010 academic school year. Registration forms and dues must be postmarked before February 1, 2011 for good standing for convention. Also make sure that you have also completed the NJCL registration as well to ensure eligibility in national JCL events.

Nota Bene: Registration dues for National JCL have changed for the 2003-2004 academic school year. Please check the National JCL dues form for more information.

What if you are living outside of Washington or British Columbia?

While this particular chapter services members living in the Washington State and the British Columbia province, the Junior Classical League being a national organization has active chapters in almost every state in the United States and province in Canada. The JCL has also worked with instructors and students living outside of North America as well. Visit the NJCL website for more information.

Can non-members go to a state JCL convention?

State JCL Conventions are explicitly for the members of the Junior Classical League. Instructors or teachers who are thinking of joining this chapter and would like to experience a convention are advised to contact the State Chairperson Ian Logan for further information.
